On Wednesday, July 4th, the U.S. Embassy in La Paz hosted a reception at the Ambassador's Residence in celebration of Independence Day.  The Yellow Bird Apache Dancers from Arizona entertained the audience of over 500 guests with traditional dances followed by the Bolivian Morenada Dance group "Señorial Illimani".  High profile guests included Mr. David Choquehuanca, Bolivian Foreign Minister, and ex President Carlos Mesa.  Guests enjoyed a typical 4th of July lunch of hotdogs, burgers, U.S. beer, Californian wine, cupcakes, and apple pie.
