On June 29, Embassy officials joined residents of Charazani province to celebrate the donation of new computers and other electronic equipment to local schools. In addition to the nine desktop computers – each of which included monitors, speakers, and software – the Embassy and USAID also provided three printers and full installation, leaving the equipment ready to use.  Furthermore, to ensure the students can derive the maximum benefit from the technology, the Embassy and USAID donated computer training classes with the hardware.

At the celebration, Martín Canaza, mayor of Charazani province, expressed his appreciation to the people of the United States for their generosity and to Charge d 'Affairs  John Creamer, who made the seven-hour journey in March to discuss the development needs of this rural Kallawaya community.

The donated equipment will be evenly divided between three schools in Kaata, Amarete, and the town of Charazani.
