On Friday, October 19 the U.S. Embassy sponsored the first Daniel Pearl World Music Days concert ever held in Bolivia with the participation of Dúo NorteSur, at Iglesia de la Exaltación, in La Paz. U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Officer Aruna Amirthanayagam dedicated the concert to the memory of American journalist and musician Daniel Pearl, saying that "his life was taken by the forces of intolerance and bigotry; but this tragedy has only served to inspire many people around the world to speak up for peace and mutual understanding." Duo NorteSur, comprised of American harpist Rachel Browne and Bolivian oboist Eduardo Cassapia played works from the European, American, and Latin American repertoire.
