On September 21, Public Affairs Officer Aruna Amirthanayagam visited the Unidad Académica Campesina Carmen Pampa, a rural university located in Los Yungas to speak to students about educational opportunities in the U.S. as well as exchange programs such as the Winter Institute. During his visit Mr. Amirthanayagam also presented a book donation to this rural university.

This visit is part of the U.S. Embassy's ongoing efforts to support President Obama's "100,000 Strong in the Americas," an initiative created to increase international study in the Americas.  The purpose of “100,000 Strong in the Americas” is to foster region-wide prosperity through greater international exchange of students, who are our future leaders and innovators.

“…the United States will work with partners in this region, including the private sector, to increase the number of U.S. students studying in Latin America to 100,000, and the number of Latin American students studying in the United States to 100,000.”
