New Bolivian Visa Requirement for U.S. Citizens

The Government of Bolivia announced on 8 January 2007 that it will begin requiring visas for all U.S. citizens traveling to Bolivia as tourists as of an unspecified date in March of 2007.  On August 15, 2007 the Bolivian press reported that this new visa requirement may take effect in the near future.  At present, neither the U.S. Department of State nor the U.S. Embassy in La Paz has any specific information as to how or when this policy will be implemented. For more information, please contact the Bolivian Embassy in Washington or your nearest Bolivian Consulate (see http://www.bolivia-usa.org/ for contact information). If you are in Bolivia, please contact Bolivian Immigration Services at 211-0960. As soon as we receive any further information about the new visa policy we will post it on this website.
